CHARACTER

Name: Mytho
Canon: Princess Tutu
Gender: Male
Age: Physically 16
Wing Color: White-Silver

Canon Point: The end of Episode 18 - after regaining his pride shard
Canon Point Explanation: I want to take Mytho from before his heart was assembled and while he is still struggling against the control of the raven's blood. This will allow me to portray his corrupted side for more variety as well as to have as many of his heart shards around as possible for a potential plot.
History: Wikipedia summary, Princess Tutu wiki

Personality:

Mytho is a person with several different states of being which come with shifts in his personality. In his original form as Prince Sigfried, he is known for being selfless to a fault and capable of loving everyone else. He seems to be wise and fair, and devotes himself to protecting the weak. It is his devotion which led him to shatter his own heart in order to seal away The Raven, but at the same time he left behind a failsafe, as one of the heart shards was capable of creating Princess Tutu, who could gather the heart shards for him and reunite his heart one day.

Without his heart, Mytho is like a blank slate of a person, who does not show much resembling emotion, beyond blind loyalty towards those who wind up looking after him - Fakir and Rue. He will obey almost anything that another says, which can come at the cost of hurting others. However, Mytho is still inherently predisposed towards good even without his emotions. He has been known to immediately rush to protect the weak and the needy when they are in danger, such as small animals, with no regard for his own safety. This has resulted in him falling out of several windows, and he does not notice his own pain without his heart shards. At the same time, Duck notices how lonely his eyes look in this state, which propels her to try to find a way to fix his heart.

Mytho's speech is often quite plain and minimal in how he reacts to others, at least initially. There is much that he does not know or does not think of in this state. Mytho looks back at his past only in vague ways, because it apparently hurts for him to think about it. He does have some simple likes, however. Mytho exhibited a passion for dancing, which is why Fakir enrolled him in the Gold Crown Academy, and he and Rue both joined with him. He also had an interest in the story that he came from, The Prince and the Raven, and Fakir noted that he had a particular interest in Princess Tutu, even before meeting the "real" one, and he would request to hear her short passage of the story over and over again.

His attitude begins to shift as he recovers his heart shards. The initial three he received - disappointment, loneliness and sorrow - were all negative emotions, and as he got each one his behavior shifted in subtle ways. Mytho started to question Fakir's orders and disobeyed him in favor of seeing Rue, but at the same time he became uncertain about how he felt around her. When he received the heart shard of affection, he was able to appreciate dancing with Rue enough to smile again. He also noted that he had feelings for Princess Tutu, Rue and Fakir but did not know what to name them. Gaining back his fear gave him a temporary fear of Princess Tutu, but talking with his emotion of curiosity helps him to realize that the fear is actually a fear of losing Tutu and the kindling light he feels in his chest at Tutu's arrival. This led Mytho to make the decisive conclusion that he did want his heart to be reassembled. Once he retrieved his heart shard for his desire of knowledge, this is when Mytho becomes somewhat more talkative, and he began to question many things about others' actions, the nature of love, his feelings and the behaviors of those around him.

Mytho seemed to be building up a devotion to Princess Tutu initially, and he also came to invest trust in Duck. At one point, he came to see her as the only person whom he could tell anything to. However, things became thorny during the battle for Mytho's love shard, as Rue had been corrupted to become Princess Kraehe so so set a trap around the shard. She attacked him while the shard was being returned to him and held both him and it captive, which caused his emotions to fall asleep and him to be like a living doll again. This was until Princess Tutu was able to dance a pas de deux by herself, which propelled the prince into action, and his love shard ultimately chose Tutu. He was reunited with it, and initially he seemed to be stable and more content. Mytho was able to dance with Tutu, and he continued to be friends with Fakir while starting to criticize his treatment of others in a friendly way.

However, the heart shard had been corrupted with raven's blood by Kraehe, and it slowly acted to cause a new personality to arise in Mytho. This one was that of a raven, who acted cruel and manipulative. While the prince had wanted to love everyone, this corrupted Mytho sought only to be loved selfishly. He worked with The Rave and the Kraehe to collect a heart that would revive The Raven, but his animosity towards the bird still remained. He saw his task only as a small token of gratitude for "awakening" this other self of his. This corrupted Mytho performed some acts of cruelty, some as minor as destroying the prized dance shoes owned by Mr. Cat. And he talked various young girls into almost surrendering their hearts to him, although in all cases Princess Tutu was able to intervene in order to save them. However, as his state progressed, he came to emotionally abuse both Fakir and Rue. He also threw himself out of a window to frame Fakir of attacking him and acted innocent afterwards in order to frame him further, and at another point he dropped Rue due to her hesitation. He even tried recruiting the Ghost Knight as an ally at one point and engaged Fakir in sword combat.

Despite this, the "real" Mytho was still present and tried to fight against the raven's blood infection. It was primarily the appearance of Princess Tutu that would cause Mytho to hesitate and briefly start returning to himself, although the raven's blood always managed to win out, especially with Rue/Kraehe at hand to ensure that he was the way she wanted him to be. The last heart shard he retrieves before the final episodes is the feeling of pride, which reflects his pride as a prince. This propels him to fight further against the infection.

Strengths
Physical: Mytho is a graceful young boy who is skilled at performing ballet. Within the show, he is often treated as the school's most advanced dancer. Additionally, he has been shown to be a skilled swordfighter, capable of matching up against the knight Fakir. However, he has only wielded a sword when infected by the raven's blood as well as after his heart was fully restored as the prince.

He also has several additional powers in his other states of being. When infected by crow's blood, he is able to disappear after being defeated in a cloud of feathers, and he seems to be capable of making illusions appear for his victims, such as when he makes a field of flowers sprout out from nowhere to impress one of his potential victims, Freya. The crow's blood also progresses to the point where he temporarily transforms into a crow person. In this form, he is capable of flying through the air like a crow.

And in his full form as the prince, he was able to create a cloud of pink flower petals beneath his feet that he was able to ride through the air. Finally, his individual heat shards, when separated from his body, each can make a projection of Mytho who will entice someone with the matching attribute and will drive them to push themselves in pursuing only that emotion.
Mental: Mytho's mental advantages are very limited in his heartless state, as he seems to only utilize true thought processes slowly as his shards are returned to him. It is notable that as he gives his heart shards, he gains greater autonomy and is able to be more decisive and questioning of his situation as well as those around him. When infected by the raven's blood, however, he is shrewd enough to manipulate others and their emotions to his own advantage.
Emotional: Mytho is known as someone who pities the weak and will always act out to protect them, even when he is without his heart. He also gains a greater sense of empathy as he regains his heart shards. Mytho becomes able to recognize when Fakir is being too forceful and suggests that he act nicer to girls.

Weaknesses
Physical: Despite his swordfighting capability, Mytho is somewhat frail and can be injured relatively easily, especially when looking out for others. In the very first episode, he winds up injuring his leg just while catching Duck from falling. He will also more often than not remain passive instead of attempting to defend himself. Mytho's heart is also vulnerable while it is in the process of being reassembled; Kraehe was able to attack him through a heart shard being returned to him, and this is also how she infected his body with raven's blood.
Mental: Of all the main characters, he seems particularly oblivious to his role in the story for the most part. He certainly seems aware of The Prince and The Raven, but he primarily seems to live out his role in the story rather than acknowledge and try to subvert his role as the others do. As the prince, he has higher awareness, but he still did wind up nearly repeating the story over again by trying to shatter his heart to re-seal The Raven. Mytho is very mentally susceptible in general. In his heartless state, he could be manipulated into doing almost anything that did not involve hurting those weaker than him, but he could still hurt others emotionally in an oblivious manner due to not understanding emotions. He does gain some relative competence at this as his heart shard's are returned, but it doesn't seem to be until his heart is fully united that he he has a high enough level of comprehension to understand the pain that Rue was living with.

His raven's blood infection seems to boost his intelligence somewhat. He is aware of people's emotions, but only in ways that will destroy them. His purposes are ultimately self-serving and not very well thought-out. This Mytho does not plan things out beyond selfishly reaching for others' love and attempting to awaken the Raven only out of pity. This results in he himself becoming a pitiable crow who breaks down at how no one seems to love him anymore.
Emotional: In Mytho's initial state, his blind obedience of others while being totally oblivious to their emotions could lead him to hurt them unintentionally. This was exhibited in the second episode, when Mytho agreed to become Anteaterina's dance partner without considering the feelings of Rue at all, and Fakir even chastised him for being that unthinking.

Additionally, his sense of self-preservation is extremely limited. He will do nearly anything he is told to that does not harm others in obvious ways, but he will often put himself in danger to protect others. In the first episode, he throws himself out of a window just to save a baby chick that was falling without any idea of how to save himself. He also tends to end up walking into being captured willingly. Once his heart is complete and he is Prince Sigfried, the difference is less pronounced. However, he refused to fight the innocent people who were turned into crows and almost sealed his heart again as the only alternative he saw at the time; this would have cost him Rue's life, and he intended to eventually pay for that with his own life. It was only the hope of Princess Tutu that inspired him to take a less self-destructive course.

When under the raven's blood, Mytho is a cruel and possessive person, who is uncaring for others' feelings. He even goes out of his way to attack Fakir, Rue and Princess Tutu emotionally, and his desire to be loved leaves him seeing no need to love anyone else in turn.

Anything else?: I am hoping to be able to run a heart shards plot with Mytho's presence in Luceti. Basically, in the show, Mytho's individual heart shards each behind themselves to a different individual and make them act in some way that isn't necessarily evil but can often be unkind in an amplification of the corresponding emotion. To set this plot into motion, ideally, I would like for Mytho's heart shards to be separated from him on his arrival to Luceti, and they would each slowly infect a different person over time.

SAMPLES (ALL SAMPLES MUST BE SET IN THE LUCETIVERSE)

First Person: (Must be ten *complete* sentences or longer. This does *not* include action text, though you may include action as well. Only the spoken dialogue will be counted. If you can, please refrain from giving us a generic arrival post. They make it difficult to judge voice and are one of the most frequent reasons revisions are requested.

Alternatively, we encourage you to instead link to a recent thread or a post from the Training Wings community/Test Drive Meme.

If you feel that a first person sample is daunting because the character is not talkative, you may request an IC Q&A. )

Third Person:

Mytho had spent a better part of the afternoon wandering aimlessly through the village. Surely there could be a good spot somewhere nearby where he could practice his dancing. It was little more than a vague inclination that he was following. Otherwise, his mind seemed vacant of other thoughts. He looked around as he walked, silently observing and admiring his surroundings. He took in the springtime scenery and the animals chittering around. Somewhere inside, there was a level of satisfaction that the small creatures were all out of harm's way.

There was a vague confusion on his face as he wandered. After all, neither Rue nor Fakir to guide him. He felt like he could remember what it was like to walk on his own, freely, but whatever had caused that was lost to him now. He wished he could find them; maybe they knew why he felt such a faint sensation on his back. But Mytho eventually came to a stop at the fountain in the plaza. Something about it seemed familiar in a way, and the wavering light of dusk was flickering along the water's surface. It seemed like a good place to dance - a place where Tutu could be. He was still wearing his New Feather pants; he had not even bothered to find shoes.

Rather, Mytho stepped right into the pond and began to flow into series of familiar movements. They were advanced ballet moves, which came to him as second nature. He closed his eyes and lost himself to the dance for some time. It was all the existence he needed. It lasted until he found himself opening his eyes suddenly - beholding a crow perched along the rim of the fountain. Maybe it was an extreme coincidence, but either way, it took just one "caw" for Mytho to sink to his knees in the shallow water, gripping his heart and shouting as panic crossed his face. The look in his eyes, the look of loneliness, was fluttering, as he muttered to himself. "I must uphold... my pride as a prince..."

He went still for a moment, and a different type of glint came into his eyes - one much darker and accompanied by a hungry grin. He felt more awake, more alive, more alert, and above all hungrier. "Pride? Such a foolish notion..."
